Membrane Protection for Laval Concrete Waterproofing

Water intrusion into concrete happens at transitions, not across the field. Ardex waterproofing systems are engineered to seal below-grade walls, plaza decks, wet rooms, and any slab where moisture control matters. We install the full Ardex protocol: substrate prep, primer, membrane application, and protection layer. Call for a free written estimate.

Why systems work

Waterproofing Succeeds When Every Layer Fits

A waterproofing membrane is not a standalone product. The primer bonds the membrane to the substrate; the membrane itself carries the water load; the protection layer shields the membrane from backfill, foot traffic, or equipment. Remove or compromise any layer and the whole assembly fails within months or years.

Ardex designs each component to work with the others. The primer is matched to the substrate and membrane. The membrane thickness and application method are specified for the exposure. The protection layer is engineered for the service condition. We follow that protocol because that is what makes the waterproofing last.

Our full Ardex product line includes repair mortars for substrate prep and self-leveling underlayment to flatten slabs before membrane install. For basement waterproofing or commercial floor systems, the Ardex waterproofing integrates into the larger scope.

Installation sequence

How Ardex Waterproofing Gets Installed

  1. Select the system

We identify which Ardex waterproofing system matches the project: below-grade liquid-applied, plaza-deck sheet membrane, wet-room system, or balcony protection. Selection depends on substrate condition, water exposure, and what comes after the membrane.

  2. Prepare the slab

The concrete surface is cleaned, repaired with Ardex-compatible materials, and all joints and penetrations are staged for the membrane. Substrate prep is where most waterproofing problems start, so we follow Ardex spec exactly.

  3. Prime and seal

The matched Ardex primer is applied to bond the membrane to the substrate. The membrane then goes down (liquid-applied or sheet) to the engineered thickness, with every corner, pipe, and transition detailed per Ardex specification.

  4. Protect and hand off

The protection layer (drainage board, screed, or traffic surface) is installed over the cured membrane. Warranty documentation is prepared and delivered. The waterproofing is ready for backfill, construction, or service.

The failure point

Waterproofing Breaks at Transitions & Corners

The membrane field rarely leaks. The problem is always at a transition: where the wall meets the floor, where a pipe penetrates the slab, where two slabs meet at a joint. These are the places where movement happens, where water finds a path, where a standard membrane application is not enough.

Ardex provides engineered detail products for every transition type. A corner detail is not just membrane folded; it is a reinforced assembly with specific materials and application steps. A pipe penetration is not just membrane wrapped; it is a boot system designed for that diameter and movement. We install these details per Ardex spec because that is where the waterproofing lives or dies. Coordinate with Ardex certified installers for system warranty, and with our foundation work or basement services when waterproofing is part of a larger project.

Common questions

Ardex Waterproofing Questions, Answered

System types, joint details, protection layers and warranty.

Multiple systems for different applications: below-grade liquid-applied, plaza-deck membrane, wet-room system, balcony waterproofing. We spec from the Ardex range based on the project's actual exposure and substrate.
Because that is where most waterproofing fails. The membrane field is rarely the problem; the corner or penetration is. Ardex provides engineered detail products for those transitions; using them per spec is what makes the system hold.
A physical layer (drainage board, screed, traffic surface) installed over the cured membrane to protect it from backfill, traffic, or service exposure. Without protection, even a perfectly installed membrane can be damaged in subsequent construction phases.
Yes, system warranty applies when installed to Ardex spec by an Ardex-system installer. We deliver the warranty documentation at handoff.
Depends on area and system. Below-grade wall waterproofing on a foundation might be a few days; a full plaza-deck system stretches longer. The full schedule is in the quote.

They walked through the joint detail before install so we understood why it cost what it cost. The system has held; the up-front spec discussion was worth it.
