Why Concrete Driveways Fail (and How to Avoid It)
A driveway is the first thing to show wear in a Laval freeze-thaw cycle. Salt, water, and repeated expansion and contraction crack and spall the surface if the slab underneath is weak. The fix starts before the pour: a compacted gravel base thick enough to shed water, air-entrained concrete that flexes instead of shatters, and the right thickness for the loads it will carry.
After the concrete sets, control joints cut at intervals let shrinkage follow a planned line instead of random cracks. A good sealer keeps water and de-icing salt from penetrating the pores. That same foundation-first approach applies to garage floor coatings, patio slabs, and walkways across the property, so every surface ages predictably.

How it works
From Site Visit to Finished Concrete, Four Steps
-
Measure and quote
We visit the site, take dimensions, discuss finish options and drainage, then leave a written, itemised quote with a firm price and no surprises.
-
Excavate and form
On start day we protect landscaping, remove old concrete if needed, excavate and compact the base, then set forms so the slab sits at the right elevation.
-
Place and finish
The concrete is placed, screeded level, and finished in your chosen style (broom, stamped, exposed aggregate, polished, or plain). Control joints are cut to manage shrinkage.
-
Cure and hand off
We clean the site, walk the finished work with you, and provide a simple cure schedule so you know when the slab is ready for traffic and sealing.
Common questions
Residential Concrete in Laval, Questions Answered
Permits, access, finishes, warranty and what to expect from start to finish.
Replaced our crumbling front steps and ran a new walkway out to the driveway. The rise is even on every step, the broom finish matches, and the railing posts line up clean.
Poured a new basement floor after the old one was torn out. It came out flat enough that the laminate went down without a single shim. Tidy crew and a clear cure schedule.
Broom-finish pool deck and a fire-pit pad in the same week. The slope drains away from the house exactly like they promised and the colour is consistent across both pours.
Built a poured retaining wall to hold back the side yard and tied a new sidewalk into it. Engineered, drained right, and it has not budged through a full freeze-thaw.
