Laval Driveway Repair Saves You a Tear-Out
Cracks, spalling and surface wear don't always mean a new driveway. Laval Concrete patches failed areas, seals cracks before they spread, and resurfaces slabs that are structurally sound but look tired. We assess the slab honestly and tell you whether repair makes sense or whether replacement is the right move. Free written estimate, no pressure.

Sound slab, tired surface
Why Driveway Repair Works When the Base Is Still Good
A driveway that looks rough on top is not automatically a tear-out candidate. If the slab sits level, the base is intact, and the damage is surface-level, repair is the smarter choice. Cracks can be sealed, spalled corners patched, and worn finishes resurfaced without removing the whole slab.
Concrete repair starts with honest assessment. We look for heaving, settling, separation from steps and walks, and base failure. If those signs are absent, the slab is a candidate for concrete driveway repair work. Crack sealing stops water infiltration, surface sealing protects against freeze-thaw and salt, and patching restores profile and grip.
When the base has actually failed, we say so. Heaving slabs, settling sections, and separation from adjacent concrete mean the foundation underneath is compromised. That is replacement territory. We bring the same straightforward standard to every assessment, whether it leads to repair or a new concrete patio or full driveway rebuild.
The repair sequence
How Driveway Repair Gets Done in Laval
-
Evaluate the slab condition
We inspect for base movement, crack patterns, spalling extent, and surface deterioration. A level slab with surface damage is a repair candidate. Heaving or settling means the base has failed and replacement is the honest answer.
-
Saw-cut and excavate damage
For localized failures, we cut clean edges around the bad area with a concrete saw, remove the failed section, and expose the base below so the new patch bonds to sound material.
-
Prepare base and set reinforcement
The base is compacted or rebuilt as needed. For larger patches, rebar or wire mesh is placed to prevent future cracking. The cavity is ready for concrete pour at the same thickness as the surrounding slab.
-
Pour, finish and cure the patch
Concrete is placed and finished to match the existing texture, brushed or exposed as needed. The patch cures on schedule. For full resurfacing, an overlay covers the entire prepared slab in one continuous pour.
Overlay and protection
Resurfacing Gives a Uniform Finish Without Tear-Out
When the slab is sound but the surface looks worn across the whole driveway, resurfacing is cleaner than multiple spot patches. A thin concrete overlay goes over the prepared slab and delivers a fresh, uniform appearance without the cost and disruption of removal.
After repair or resurfacing, concrete sealing closes the surface against water and de-icing salt, extending the life of the repair. If the assessment reveals the slab cannot be saved, we move to stamped driveway options, exposed aggregate, brushed finish, or coloured concrete for a complete replacement.

Driveway Repair Questions Answered
Repair vs replace, cracks, spalling, resurfacing and what makes sense to fix in Laval.
Quoted a resurface instead of a full tear-out because the slab was still sound. Saved us thousands and the new finish looks like a new driveway from the street.
Spalled corner at the curb cut, fixed cleanly with a colour-matched patch. The seam is barely visible and it has not cracked again through the winter.
They were honest that part of the driveway needed replacing because the base had failed, and the other part could be repaired. Did both, exactly as they explained.
Patched several surface cracks before they could grow. The seal is back on, the slab looks decades younger, and they said it should outlast me at this point.
