Epoxy Floor Systems for Laval Warehouses

Epoxy flooring is a multi-layer system engineered for the specific demands of your space. Laval Concrete sizes the primer, body coat, aggregate and topcoat to match chemical exposure, traffic intensity and slip requirements. We grind the slab to spec, test for moisture, and install the full system with proper cure intervals. Free written estimate on every project.

The root cause

Why Epoxy Flooring Fails Without Proper Slab Prep

Most commercial epoxy failures trace back to one mistake: inadequate slab preparation. A coating applied to a slab with moisture, contaminants, or poor surface profile will separate from the concrete within months, regardless of the epoxy's quality. The concrete is the foundation; the epoxy is the wear layer.

Our process begins with diamond grinding the slab to the system manufacturer's specification. We remove old coatings, contaminants and surface laitance, then test moisture levels. If vapor transmission is high, we apply a moisture-blocking primer before the epoxy system. Cracks and joints are filled with compatible material. Only then do we apply the primer, body coat with broadcast aggregate where needed, and topcoat in the correct sequence with proper cure time between each layer.

This same rigorous approach applies to all our commercial floor systems, our broader commercial concrete portfolio, and the parallel residential epoxy garage floor work. When an existing epoxy has failed, commercial floor repair often begins with removal back to clean concrete.

How Epoxy Flooring Gets Installed in Laval

  1. Assess and specify the system

We evaluate the floor's intended use, chemical exposure, traffic volume, wash-down frequency and slip-resistance needs, then specify the epoxy system, primer type, body-coat thickness, aggregate and topcoat that meet all requirements.

  2. Grind and prepare the slab

Diamond grinding removes old coatings, contaminants and surface laitance to the manufacturer's prep profile. Moisture testing determines if a vapor-mitigation primer is needed. Cracks and joints are filled with compatible filler material.

  3. Apply primer and body coat

The primer bonds the epoxy to the concrete. The body coat is applied at the specified thickness. Slip-resistance aggregate is broadcast into the wet body coat where required by the specification.

  4. Finish with topcoat and cure

The topcoat seals the system and provides the wear surface. The floor cures according to the manufacturer's schedule. We provide a clear return-to-service timeline so you can plan operations around the cure period.

System selection matters

Choosing the Right Epoxy System Extends Floor Life

Commercial epoxy systems vary significantly in chemical resistance, abrasion rating, temperature tolerance and slip classification. A system chosen for cost rather than use will fail prematurely even if installation is flawless. We specify based on the actual environment, not the budget floor.

When epoxy is part of a larger renovation, we coordinate with adjacent polished concrete in office zones and loading dock concrete outside the building so all floor systems transition seamlessly.

Common questions

Epoxy Flooring Questions, Answered

Slab prep, chemical resistance, slip ratings and what makes commercial epoxy worth specifying.

A properly specified and installed system lasts the better part of a decade or longer in most commercial environments. Wear comes from traffic and chemicals; the system spec determines how it handles each. We size the spec to your use.
Diamond grinding to the manufacturer's prep profile is our standard, removing contaminants, old coatings and surface laitance. Where moisture testing flags a high-vapor slab, a moisture-mitigation primer goes on first. Skipping prep is why coatings fail.
Yes, with the right system spec. Wash-down floors get a system with chemical resistance and slip aggregate; food processing gets a system rated to that environment; service garages get a system rated for hot tires and automotive fluids. The system matches the use.
Foot traffic typically a day after the topcoat; full vehicle or chemical service later in the cure schedule. We give you a clear return-to-service timeline before the install so you can plan production around it.
Sometimes, but usually we remove the failed system back to clean concrete first. Installing over a failing layer just inherits its failure mode. The honest scope often includes removal as a line item; the quote tells you up front.

★★★★★

Three contractors quoted slab prep as a paint roller and a primer. Laval Concrete quoted diamond grinding and explained why. Two years in, floor is still tight to the slab, no peeling.

Z. R.
Warehouse Manager, Laval
★★★★★

Service-bay system rated for hot tires and automotive fluids. Wash-down works, no spalling at the floor drains, and the slip aggregate is doing its job in winter.

Q. U.
Service Garage Owner, Montreal
★★★★★

They specced the system to the actual chemical exposure in our plant, not the cheapest option that fits the budget. Worth every dollar; the previous floor had failed in 14 months.

X. U.
Manufacturing Plant Manager, Terrebonne
★★★★★

Coordinated install around our shift schedule. Floor was returned to service at the timelines they quoted, no surprises, no slipped delivery dates. Real professionals.

Operations Director, Longueuil
