Every basement reno touches the slab. A new bathroom means cutting the floor, setting the drain, and closing the slab back up level. Removing a load-bearing wall leaves a footing footprint that has to be filled and finished. Rerouted plumbing requires trenches to be excavated, inspected, and poured back cleanly. Demo sometimes finds rotted concrete around old leaks that needs to be cut out and replaced. We come in for that phase, usually a few days to a week, and leave the floor closed, flat and ready for the trades above. We meet with the renovator, plumber, and electrician to identify every slab cut, confirm depths and elevations, and lock the sequence so concrete work fits the reno schedule without delays.
Saw-cut and excavate
Using a concrete saw, we make straight cuts at the required depth, keeping the existing slab intact. The trench is excavated cleanly, and the area is prepped for the new work.
Plumbing and electrical run
The new drain, water line, or electrical conduit is installed inside the trench, inspected where required, and the base is prepared with stone or backfill before pouring.
Pour and finish
Fresh concrete is poured into the trench or patch, finished to match the existing slab elevation and texture, and left ready for the rest of the reno to continue above.

Renos slip when one trade waits on another. The concrete work in a basement renovation is typically a 2-to-5-day job inside a 6-to-12-week project, but only if it is brought in at the right moment. We schedule with the renovator, hold the date, and arrive with the saw and mix ready to go.
Most of our reno calls come from general contractors and renovators who book us repeatedly for the slab piece. Some come directly from homeowners managing their own reno. Either way, we coordinate to the rest of the schedule, including any tie-in to a basement crack repair or a walkout basement upgrade that may be part of the same project.

Yes. We pour to the same elevation and finish texture, so the patched area blends with the surrounding slab. If the finish above it is going to be tile or plank, exact match is not critical because the finish covers it; for exposed or polished slabs we put more effort into matching.
Not if it is sequenced correctly. The most common timeline slip is when concrete work is brought in late and trades have to wait on a cure. Brought in at the right point and the slab cure is happening while other work continues; the reno keeps moving.
