Engineered Sika Repair Mortars for Laval Concrete
Spalls, cracks, and section loss demand the right repair mortar. Sika MonoTop handles structural restoration where load matters. SikaRep addresses cosmetic and decorative patching. Both families include formulations for horizontal, vertical, and overhead placement. Laval Concrete matches the repair condition to the Sika product, applies the bonded primer system, and documents the work for warranty. Free assessment.

Repair classification
How Sika Repair Mortars Are Chosen
Sika repair is not one product. MonoTop and SikaRep are product families, each with multiple formulations tuned to different repair scenarios. A structural spall on a load-bearing element calls for MonoTop. A cosmetic patch on a non-structural wall calls for SikaRep. Overhead placement requires non-sag rheology. Deep section replacement may need multiple lifts. The repair condition determines the product, not the other way around.
We assess the damage (spall depth, location, structural role, surrounding concrete condition) and select the matched Sika mortar. Applying the wrong product to the right repair fails as quickly as applying the right product to the wrong repair. The matching is the engineering.
Sika repair often works alongside Sika waterproofing when moisture is part of the failure mode, or Sika crack injection when cracks precede the surface repair. See the full Sika product range and other repair brands we stock.
Installation sequence
Sika Repair Installation in Laval
-
Assess repair condition
We evaluate the spall or damage (depth, location, structural role, surrounding concrete quality) and determine whether the repair is structural, cosmetic, or overhead, then select the matched Sika product.
-
Prepare substrate
The repair area is saw-cut to clean edges where needed, unsound concrete and contaminants are removed, and the substrate is cleaned to Sika specification for the chosen mortar.
-
Apply bonded primer
The Sika bonded primer is applied to the prepped substrate. This primer is what creates permanent adhesion between the repair mortar and the existing concrete. Skipping it voids warranty.
-
Mix and place mortar
The selected Sika repair mortar is mixed to manufacturer ratios and placed at the engineered thickness. Placement technique varies by product (horizontal, vertical, or overhead formulation).
-
Finish and cure
Surface finish is matched to surrounding concrete texture. The repair cures per Sika schedule. Documentation is provided for warranty support and future reference.
Common failure mode
Why Product Substitution Fails Sika Repairs
The most frequent Sika repair failure we encounter is product substitution. A contractor specifies Sika MonoTop for a structural repair, then uses a generic mortar or a different brand because it was cheaper or easier to source. The substitute does not bond to the Sika primer, the chemistry is incompatible, and the repair fails within months or years.
We use the specified Sika product end-to-end. When a project has multiple repair situations (structural spall plus cosmetic patching, for example), we use multiple Sika products matched to each condition rather than forcing one product everywhere. This approach costs more upfront but delivers durability. See our full brand portfolio and other Sika systems we install.

Sika Repair Questions, Answered
MonoTop vs SikaRep, structural vs cosmetic, overhead repair and warranty.
Structural repair on a parking structure spall. They used Sika MonoTop with the right primer, cured per spec. The repair has carried load for three years with no issues. Real engineering.
Overhead repair on a basement ceiling spall. The non-sag Sika product stayed in place during cure where a standard product would have slumped. Right product for the situation.
Deep-section repair on a structural element. Multiple lifts with the proper Sika product, full cure between each. Restored to engineering spec with documentation.
They were honest that one of our repairs needed the more expensive Sika product, not a substitute. Trust earned by recommending the right product even when cheaper would have worked short-term.
